Strengthening cooperation on labour and social security between Vietnam and Angola

On July 2nd, 2020, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung had a meeting with Mr. Agostinho Fenandes – Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Angola to Vietnam on promoting cooperation in the fields of labour and social security between the two countries.


At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung thanked the Ambassador for visiting and working with MOLISA and expressed his wishes the success for new term of the Ambassador. The Deputy Minister hoped that the Ambassador would contribute to further promoting the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung affirmed the desire of continuing to cooperate in the field of National devotees, in particular the exchange on policies, laws, and experience in nursing rehabilitation for war invalids, production and supply of artificial limbs, staff training; Moreover, MOLISA has already cooperated with Angola in other social security areas such as gender equality, social protection, child protection and care.

Ambassador Agostinho Fernandes thanked the Deputy Minister for giving a warm welcome to the delegation. The Ambassador affirmed that cooperation between Vietnam and Angola has established since the two countries were in the war of national liberation. It can be said that this is a deep friendly relationship.
According to the Ambassador, the Government of Angola is very interested in policies on the field of labour, employment, social security and ensuring the rights for veterans. These are important areas that will affect Vietnam's plans and policies for socio-economic development in the future. Therefore, the Government of Angola is very interested and looks forward to cooperating and learning Vietnam's experiences in these fields.
 The Ambassador also said that the two countries should sign a MOU related to labour management to ensure the rights of Vietnamese workers working in Angola.
Besides, the Ambassador said that the Angola’s Ministry of Labour is very interested in vocational training. Vietnam has many vocational training institutions which Angola desires to learn and organize vocational training courses for Angolans in Vietnam, as well as create opportunities for young Angolan to visit Vietnam to learn experience in this area.
Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung emphasized that MOLISA would always willing to cooperate with Angola to enhance and better protect the legal rights and interests of Vietnamese workers, especially in the current context.
In order to strengthen cooperation activities more effectively between the two sides in the coming time, Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung suggested that the Ambassador would be a bridge to actively promote cooperation activities between Vietnam and Angola; as well as coordinate with MOLISA in signing a cooperation agreement in the field of labour.
MOLISA will direct the specialized units to be ready to coordinate regularly, strengthen the friendship cooperation with Angola in the forthcoming time.
