Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha receives Vice General Secretary of ASEAN

On September 06th, at the Ministry’s Head office, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha had a cordial meeting with Mr. Kung Phoak – Vice General Secretary of ASEAN, in responsible of ASEAN Socio – Cultural Community. Attending the meeting were Mrs. Sita Sumrit, representative of Secretary Board of ASEAN, and representatives of the Department of International Cooperation, Department of Gender Equality and Department of Child Affairs. At the meeting, the two sides have shared about a number of the cooperation activities between Vietnam – ASEAN for the past time and the priority activities which Vietnam intends to in 2020.


Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha welcomes Mr. Kung Phoak to Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam. At the same time, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the special concern of ASEAN’s Secretary Board to Vietnam in general and to MOLISA in particular. At the meeting, Deputy Minister shared the brief information on some cooperation activities which Vietnam have done for the past time and the priority which Vietnam intend to in 2020. The Deputy Minister also appreciated the role of ASEAN’s Secretary board in the work of orientation the member countries about some key issues, namely “environment protection”, “Mobilisation of the entrepreneur’s role”, “Building the social security network”…

The year of 2020 is the remarkable year of 10 years establishment of the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), the Deputy Minister recommended that it is necessary to review, assess the activities of ACWC in the past years in order to make the foundation for the action plan in the forthcoming years for promoting chilren’s right as well as enhancing implementation of CEDAW Convention.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister expressed her gratefulness to Mr. Kung Phoak for his help to Vietnam and MOLISA for the past time. She hoped that ASEAN’s Secretary Board would continue support Vietnam to make the cooperation between the two sides increasingly closely and effective.
Mr. Kung Phoak thanked the Deputy Minister for the warm welcome. He highly appreciated the cooperation between MOLISA and ASEAN Secretary Board for the past time. He also absolutely agreed with Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha, He said that the year of 2020 is the remarkable year for reviewing all activities during the past years and towards building and supplementing the plan for the next 5 year of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community. He also emphasized that the world has changed rapidly, ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community with 5 main features:  the benefit for ASEAN people, integration, sustainable, self-reliant and dynamic features has orient the implementation of the professional agencies. Moreover, it is necessary to concern to smart ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community. In the forthcoming time, the mainstreaming this factors in implementation to create the effectiveness is also concerned by many countries.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha highly agreed with Mr. Kung Phoak that beyond the foundation factors of the Community, the new emerged factors relating to technology should be concerned and developed with the target of improving people’s living standard. The Deputy Minister thanked the Vice General Secretary for the cooperation during the past time. At the same time, she also recommended that ASEAN Secretary Board would continue supporting the initiative and activity of ASCC in general and the initiative of MOLISA in particular in the National ASEAN Chair 2020, especially, in the work of mobilizing the resource and technical support of the development partners of ASEAN to implement the initiatives. The Deputy Minister hoped that the cooperation between MOLISA and ASEAN Secretary Board would become more and more closely like members in family.
