At the meeting, the two sides focused on sharing a number of issues relating the bilateral cooperation activities in the field of labour and social affairs recently. The two sides also shared information about program on improve the capacity of implementation the labour law, promoting the harmonious labour relationship,… prevention and elimination child labour and human trafficking prevention and combat, the program support for people with disabilities, the policies on social affairs; the program on labour dialogue between the two countries will be taken place in the forthcoming time.
Cooperation in the field of labour and social affairs with the USA have been implemented through the framework of multilateral cooperation namely APEC, ASEAN and cooperating with the NGOs. Since 2000, Vietnam has received more than USD 50 million from the Ministry of Labour of the USA support to implement the program on technical support for labour market and social security.
At the meeting, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung highly appreciated the cooperation relationship between Vietnam – USA in the field of labour, employment, social security and prevention human trafficking and combat. According to the Minister, recently, bilateral cooperation between the two countries has developed well and comprehensively in all field of economy, culture, social affairs.
Ambassador Marc E. Knapper highly appreciated the result in the process of recovering the economy after the pandemic in Vietnam. Discussing on the work of cooperation in the coming time, the Ambassador hoped to receive the agreement of the Minister in order to continue expanding and developing the programs. As well as, he also said that the USA considered the cooperation in social affairs as one of the fields which play an important role as the foundation for the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
