Launching ceremony of Action month for labour safety and hygiene and the Workers’ month 2022

The Action month for labour safety and hygiene and the Workers’ Month 2022 were launched in Hanoi, on April 28. The Central Steering Committee for the Action month for labour safety and hygiene in collaboration with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) held this Ceremony. Attending the Ceremony were Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung; VGCL President Nguyen Dinh Khang; representatives of ministries, departments, branches, workers as well as labourers nationwide. With the determination to control occupational accidents and diseases, the Government launched the Action month for labour safety and hygiene with the theme "Strengthening measures to reduce risks in labour safety and hygiene, improving working conditions at the workplace, adapting safely, flexibly to and effectively controlling the COVID-19 pandemic".

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh emphasized: The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) determined that to achieve the task of building a safe society, building a modern and strong working class is one of the key contents, which focusing on taking care of the material and spiritual life, housing and social welfare of workers; protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers in order to realise and concretise contents in labour safety and hygiene. Therefore, improving the working conditions of workers needs to be focused on regularly and continuously. This is a common responsibility of the whole political system and society as a whole. It requires the attention of and implementation by all levels of Party committees, organisations, sectors, businesses and workers.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh also emphasized: The Central Steering Committee for Action month for labour safety and hygiene and the VGCL need to strengthen their close coordination in directing the organisation to improve the effectiveness of activities during the action month for the labour safety and hygiene and the Workers’ Month.

In the speech at launching ceremony of the Action month on work safety and hygiene 2022 with the theme "Strengthening measures to reduce risks in labour safety and hygiene, improving working conditions at the workplace, adapting safely, flexibly to and effectively controlling the COVID-19 pandemic", Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung  emphasized that the right of safe working and hygiene at work site are considered as one of fundamental rights of labourers affirmed in the Constitution 2013 and policies caring for and improving the material and spiritual life for workers always be paid attention by the Party and the State.
The Minister also said that in 2021, with the huge effort of all levels, sectors and people, Vietnam achieved many results in the work of work safety and hygiene. Moreover, the work of caring for and improving the material and spiritual life for workers, labourers in the context of Covid-19 pandemic was specially paid attention by all political system. The Party, the State, Government, as well as VGCL, the levels, sectors have issued a range of many policies in order to support workers' lives and jobs, contributing to the recovery, restoration and stabilization of the labour market, economic and social development.
Challenges and risks in occupational safety and health are still increasing. Meanwhile, a part of the employers are still not aware, interested, and invested properly in occupational safety and health; Many workers have not received vocational training, occupational safety and hygiene training, knowledge and skills for safe working and industrial manners are still limited.
The VGCL also launched Workers' Month 2022 with the theme "Vietnamese workers: Pioneering, innovative, responsible, safe, adaptive".
In order to operate effectively, VGCL President Nguyen Dinh Khang suggested that trade unions, union members and workers nationwide focus on performing a number of tasks such as raising awareness about the purpose, meaning, and activities of Workers' Month; selecting and effectively implementing the orientations for the 10 planned activities and four key activities under the guidance of the Presidium of the VGCL on organising Workers' Month in association with the implementation of action month for labour safety and hygiene 2022.
At the ceremony, leaders of the Party, State, Government, MOLISA and VGCL, members of the Steering Committee performed a ceremony to launch the Workers' Month and the Action Month on Safety and Hygiene 2022.
Also at the launching ceremony, on behalf of the Leaders of the Party and State, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam presented Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister to 4 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of OSH from 2017-2021; Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung and Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang presented the Emulation Flags of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to typical and excellent units in the emulation movement "Green - Clean - Beautiful, OSH".
On this occasion, leaders of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour gave gifts and supported workers suffering from occupational accidents.
