Enhancing cooperation in the field of vocational education between Vietnam and the United Kingdom

 On April, 05th, at the Head office of Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs, the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Vocational training cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the United Kingdom was organized. Minister Dao Ngoc Dung on behalf of Vietnam’s Government and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in Vietnam Gareth Ward on behalf of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland signed the MOU. The UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Vietnam Graham Stuart also attended the Ceremony.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Vocational training cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the United Kingdom is expected to create a legal framework for bilateral cooperation in the field of vocational education, contributing to realizing the goal of vocational education development in Vietnam.
According to the MOU, the two sides will share professional knowledge on vocational education; support the development and implementation of sustainable vocational education policies, and share experience on improving the quality of vocational education, and increasing the involvement of managing, leading, teaching, and evaluating the capacity at the vocational education institutions; boosting the digital technology in online training; improve the institutional framework of vocational education; implementing appropriate language programs in vocational education; promote partnerships between vocational education institutions recognized by both sides; recognition of certifications and training programs within the framework of professional recognition, quality assurance activities and accreditation of vocational education; develop database system on vocational education.…
The cooperation contents are in line with the implementation of the Vietnam vocational education development strategy in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
In the framework of the signing ceremony, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung had a working session with UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Vietnam Graham Stuart. In the working session, the Vietnamese official highly appreciated the support from the UK in recent years, especially in the field of vocational education through the British Council.
At the meeting, Mr. Graham Stuart said, in the field of education in general and the field of vocational education in particular, the two countries have had many opportunities to cooperate and learn from each other. He said that the UK always supports the development orientation of vocational education of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs. Therefore, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of vocational education between the two countries is the base for long-lasting and reliable cooperation between the UK and Vietnam in the field of vocational education.

The two sides also agreed to step up cooperation in vocational education in order to help Vietnam improve the quality of its human resources in the future.
