Opening Ceremony of the 11th National Vocational Skills Competition, 2020


On October 4, 2020, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) held the Opening Ceremony of the 11th National Skills Competition in 2020 and announced the Decision of the Prime Minister on "Vietnam Labour Skills Day". Attending the event were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Minister Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung, representatives of leaders of relevant ministries, departments, agencies and central agencies, representatives of international organizations and candidates participating in the 11th National Skills Competition and domestic and foreign experts.

 The event is also an opportunity to honor young vocational skilled who have achieved excellent results in the World Skills Competition in 2019.

The National Vocational Skills Competition takes place every two years to honor a young workforce with vocational skills; create movement for learning, training skills in vocational education institutions as well as in enterprises.
This year's the competition is renewed in association with the implementation of the Prime Minister's Directive No. 24 / CT-TTg dated May 28, 2020 on promoting the development of skilled human resources, contributing to improving labour productivity and the National competitiveness in the new situation and in line with the changing trends in the country, the region and the world about science and technology, vocational skill development, and vocational education; improve the quality of exams and competitionants; strengthen the work of ensuring accuracy, fairness, openness, transparency and integration of the exam in order to get close to the ASEAN and the world vocational skills competitions.
Competent candidates with high prizes in this year's exam will be selected to join the national team to train in preparation for taking part in the 13th ASEAN Vocational Skills Competition and the 46th World Skills Competition held in 2021.
October 4 - Vietnam Labour Skills Day
In the framework of the opening event of the National Vocational Skills Competition, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs also announced the Prime Minister's Decision on Vietnam Labour Skills Day.
Accordingly, on October 1st, 2020, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1486 / QD-TTg on Vietnam's Labour Skills Day, taking October 4 every year to be Vietnamese Labour Skills Day.
This is the first year that Vietnam has a labour skill day and will be held annually to honor and orient the workers to practice their skills, and guide their career to have stable jobs. This will be a very special day for skilled human resources in general and vocational education in particular.
Vietnam Labour Skills Day is held on the whole country.
Vietnam has not had a specific day to honor labour skills in all sectors and trades. Therefore, having "Vietnam Labour Skills Day" is very necessary to integrate with the trend of honoring skilled workers from all over the world, and at the same time promoting awareness of the importance, role and values ​​of Vietnamese skilled workers in the new situation.
