On May 08th, 2020, in Hanoi, Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs in cooperation with Vietnam General Confederation held the Action month and Worker's Month 2020. attending the launching ceremony were Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung - Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - President of Vietnam General Confederation; Mr.Chang Hee Lee – Director of ILO Vietnam; representatives from the Ministries, sectors, and the member of the Central Steering Committee of Action month for labour safety, hygiene, Worker's month 2020.
The action month for labour safety and hygiene, themed improving working conditions and risk management at workplaces, was launched on May 8, 2020.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung noted that this year's Action month for labour safety, hygiene, Worker's month 2020 is taking place in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic which has been happened complicatedly with its negative impacts on the economic situation of the country as well as employment, workers' incomes and and living conditions.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung suggested that all levels, sectors and workers join hands to implement basic solutions such as strictly complying with the law on occupational safety and sanitation and all relevant COVID-19 preventive measures; as well as proactively enhancing technologicalapplication solutions in assessing and controlling all risks at workplaces.
The Minister noted that efforts made in 2019 have so far boosted public and business awareness on the matter as well as having improved labour productivity and the working environment.
Safety models must be replicated, while the effectiveness of inspection work ought to be increased, he stressed.
On this occasion, a Workers’ Month with the focus on improving workers’ living standards was also launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.
