The 6th Vietnam National Forum of Children: "Children participate in child issues"

  On August 15, 2019, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with the Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescent and Children, Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organized Opening Ceremony of the 6th National Forum of children with the theme "Children participate in child issues". Deputy Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha attended and had the opening speech. Attending the forum were Mr. Dang Hoa Nam, Director General of Department of Children Affairs, representative from the Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescent and Children of the National Assembly, National Fund for Vietnamese Children, representatives of ministries, branches, unions, national and international organizations, businesses sponsoring the Forum together with 169 children representing 26 million children on nationwide.  

In June and July, in provinces and cities on the whole country, there are tens of thousands children participated in provincial, district, and commune level forums. The children exchanged and discussed on the issues related to local children; have been exchanged and had dialogues with the People's Councils, People's Committees, departments, agencies and organizations responsible for ensuring the implementation of children's rights in the locality.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha emphasized that the issue of children, the participation of children in children's issues is stipulated in the Convention on Children's Rights, Constitution 2013 and Law of Children Affairs 2016. During the implementation of these regulations, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs has accompanied the central ministries and grassroot level to make the best conditions for children to participate in these contents. Forum of children is one of the activities to realize children's rights. In 2019, on the whole country, the children have participated in local forums. Coming to the children's forum, representing children of 41 provinces/cities, SOS Children's Villages, Thuy An Disabled Rehabilitation Center and Children's Council of 4 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Quang Ninh and Binh Dinh, on behalf of 26 million children nationwide, 169 children delegates brought messages and recommendations and solutions to help participation right of children become better.
Since 2009, every two years, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with relevant agencies and localities has organized 5 session of National Forum for children. The 6th forum with the theme "Children participate in child issues" paid most attention to 5 issues: Prevention of violence against children, child abuse; Preventing and combat child accidents and injuries; Safe in network environment; Ethical education, lifestyle, life skills; Health care issues, comprehensive development for children (health, learning, entertainment).
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha, the participants of the Forum are representatives of the local children's voices, this is an opportunity for children to discuss their own issues. Therefore, the Deputy Minister wants all children to promote their sense of responsibility, to express the aspiration of more than 26 million children nationwide and think about the most essential issues about life, learning, to well implement 5 issues Uncle Ho taught, promote the sense of responsibility, awareness, intelligence and creativity to have appropriate messages, good messages, practical meanings and the message can move everyone's heart to protecting children and giving the best for children.
In particular, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha said that on August 17, 2019, the children will have a meeting and dialogue with High level Leader of the country and send the messages and recommendations of the 6th National Children's Forum to the State Leaders, National Assembly, ministries, branches and organizations.
On this occasion, on behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha thanked the attention of the ministries, branches and central agencies, the companionship and support of both technical and financial expertise of agencies, organizations and enterprises in the process of organizing the National Children Forum.
After the Forum, children's messages and recommendations will be sent to agencies, social organizations, policy makers, people working for children. The National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescent and Children will strengthen the monitoring of the implementation of the commitments of the Government, ministries, branches and local authorities with requirements and aspirations of children.
