Consultation Conference and implementation of activitites of The ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children 2019

On March 15th, 2019, in Hanoi, Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), with the role of chairing agency participating Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) of Vietnam held a Conference “Consultation of Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children in 2019”. Addressing the Conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha highly appreciated the efforts of ACWC when the Commission completed most of the goals, priorities in the working plan, contributed to improve the right, social welfare, development and development of women and children in ASEAN.

The Deputy Minister said that Vietnam achieved the result and remarks at the regional level thanks to the efforts and connection at the national level. The establishment of Vietnam ACWC Network since 2011 with annual consultation activities in the regions has helped to timely update, share information, experience in implementation, promotion and protection of  rights of women and children. As a result, many national initiatives and priorities have been integrated and coordinated when participating in common activities and projects of the region.
The Commission's Activity Report, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huyen, Deputy Director of the Gender Equality Department, Vietnam Women's Rights Representative at the ACWC said some outstanding results in the period of 2012 - 2016, such as: strengthen communisation on on eliminating violence against women and children in ASEAN; Publishing good examples of ASEAN on the elimination of violence against women and children; Building a network of regional and national service providers for women and children; Guidance on non-violent approaches in nurturing care and development for children; Regional action plan for eliminating violence against women and the Regional Action Plan on eliminating violence against children; The regional assessment report on laws, policies and practices in ASEAN involves identification, management and treatment of trafficked victims, especially women and children ...
At the workshop, participants were updated and shared information about the activities and progress of the Work Plan of the Committee for the period of 2016 - 2020; disseminate important regional materials about women and children. In particular, the Workshop conducted a review and evaluation in the middle of the implementation of the ASEAN Regional Action Plan on the Elimination of Violence against Children at the national level.
In addition, the workshop also evaluated midterm the implementation of the Regional Action Plan on the elimination of violence against children. This is one of the important activities of the ACWC in the period 2016-2020.
