Deputy Minister Le Quan receives the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory of Australia

On November 7th, at the Ministry's Head office, Deputy Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Le Quan had a cordial meeting with Mr. Micheal Gunner, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory of Australia on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam from November 6th – 9th. In the visit to Vietnam, the Chief Minister hoped to strengthen the cooperation with Vietnam in the field of vocational education and labour cooperation.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quan highly appreciated the cooperated activities between the two sides namely, training cooperation between the vocational institutions of Vietnam and Australia; training for staffs managing vocational education and holding the conference sharing experiences on vocational education; exchanging the delegation of policies study; the expert survey and exchanging the high level delegation; transferring the training curriculum from Australia.

Deputy Minister Le Quan also shared about the MOU on the cooperation in the field of vocational education between Vietnamese Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs and  Australian Ministry of Education and Training on the March, 2018. He said that the MOU was the foundation to keep boosting the cooperation on exchanging policies, experiences on building the program, curriculum; improving capacity for management staffs, teachers, students in the field of vocational education; reference of the model of the Council of vocational consultation…

The Deputy Minister also recommended about strengthening cooperation allowing Vietnamese students to work in the short term in Australia (3 - 6 months). As well as, he hoped that Australia would support Vietnamese students who work in the short - term in Australia in the process of  Visa application procedure.

Mr. Michael Gunner thanked Deputy Minister Le Quan for the warm welcome. He also shared that Northern Territory of Australia with the cultural and climate conditions nearly similar to Vietnam. Especially the Northern Territory has the high demand of human resources. Therefore the Northern Territory government has given incentives to foreign workers when coming here to work and study. Thus,  Mr. Michael Gunner hoped that in the coming time the two countries would strengthen cooperation in the field of vocational training and labour cooperation.
