Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Dam welcomed the Chief Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Vietnam

On May 22, 2013, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Dam had a cordial meeting with Ms. Mandeep K.O 'Brien, Chief Representative of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Vietnam on the occasion of her tenure ended in Vietnam.






    United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is an international development organization, supporting developing countries in protecting and improving the reproductive health and sexual health for women, men and children through the provision of quality services in reproductive health and family planning, supporting the construction of population policy for sustainable development. UNFPA has been active in Vietnam since 1977 and has supported about 140 million dollars for the issues of family planning, and health care services for mothers and children; implementation of policies and programs related to the gender issues, population and development; ...
 
      In 2011, Ms. Mandeep K.O 'Brien began 2 year term working in Vietnam. On the position of Chief Representative of UNFPA in Vietnam, she has actively implemented the UN Projection gender equality, prostitution, gender imbalance at birth, population aging, vocational training for those who did prostitution work.. Her activities have brought the practical effect of raising social awareness of gender equality issues, the knowledge of health for sex workers...
 
     At the meeting, Ms. Mandeep K.O 'Brien extremely touched by the good feelings of Vietnam, as well as the MOLISA spent for her. Two years of working in Vietnam has helped her a lot experiences from Vietnamese colleagues. She highly appreciated the close cooperation and guidance of the leaders and units in the implementation of the projects, so it has always been done smoothly and effectively. She was very regret not to continue to work in Vietnam, but no matter where they live & in any position, she would also always interest in Vietnam.
 
     On behalf of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Dam thanked Ms. Mandeep K.O 'Brien for the great contributions to Vietnam in the field of family planning, raising social awareness of gender equality … In the past two years, MOLISA and UNFPA have closely coordinated and implemented many projects with high efficiency, which was also due in part to the her active activities. The Deputy Minister regretted for not continuing the partnership with Ms. Mandeep K.O 'Brien in the future, but he hoped that in any positions, she will continue to contribute to Vietnam. He sends wishes to her health and get more successful for new position.
