Minister Dao Ngoc Dung attends G20 Labour and Employment Ministers Virtual Meeting

 Highly appreciating the Ministerial Declaration of G20 Labour and Employment Ministers on “Realizing Opportunities of the 21st Century for All”, Vietnam’s Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said that the Declaration has showed the vision of the Ministers on the challenges and opportunities posed for all economies in the field of labour – employment in the 21st Century.

This year, Covid-19 has broght an unprecedented global challenge required the global response, the Labour and Employment Minister of the G20 members and invited countries is held virtually on the 10th September 2020, to discuss recent global economic and labour market developments and to advance the work towards “Realizing Opportunities of the 21st Century for All”
Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung attended the Virtual meeting at the Vietnam bridge point, as the invitee representing for the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 country.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr. Ahmed AlRajhi, Minister of Human Resources Development and Social Affairs of the host country of Saudi Arabia said that this Meeting acknowledged that the epidemic had inclusively and massively impacted on economy, life and income, jobs of many workers.
Therefore, the current global challenge is to stabilize the labour market, at the same time to change the social protection system, as well as to discovery effective measures to minimize the pandemic impact on the labour market and the economy.
Thus, G20 Labour and Employment the Ministers expressed their agreement with the importance of this Meeting, to discuss together and offer solutions, joint efforts, in the spirit of solidarity to resolve, maintaining stability on social security, improving occupational skills, ensuring employment for women, and informal workers; protect jobs and income for people ...
The Ministers said that combating the epidemic and overcoming a pandemic is "the most important issue of the first priority", at the same time supporting the introduction of the Ministerial Declaration. At the Meeting, the Declaration on "Realizing Opportunities of the 21st Century for All " had been issued.

In the speech at the Meeting, affirming the agreement and highly appreciating G20 Labour – Employment Ministerial Declaration on “Realizing Opportunities of the 21st Century for All”, Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said that the Declaration has showed the vision of the Ministers on the challenges and opportunities posed for all economies in the field of labour – employment in the 21st Century.
“Especially, in the context of the world have to effort to solve the challenge of Covid-19 pandemic with all country in remaining economic growth, employment and social security”, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung emphasized.
Accordingly, he said that the Declaration has showed the joint commitment of all Ministers in the meeting. The Declaration towards the goals of promoting sustainable and inclusive growth based on ensuring all people having a chance to access with decent work and effective social security system.
With the role of representatives of the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 country, Minister shared some brief information on the activities of ASEAN and Vietnam in recently.
The Minister said that in the Special ASEAN Labour Ministerial Virtual Meeting on Covid-19 held on May, 2020, ASEAN’s Ministers agreed with the commitment on joining hand to cooperate and response with the impact of the pandemic with the issue of labour and employment.
“We all together effort to promote the caring and sharing society through building ASEAN Declaration on developing social work in order to appreciate the role of social workers in the context of response with the huge socio-economic challenge such as Covid 19” said by the Minister.
Moreover, ASEAN Declaration on Human Resource Development in a Changing World of Work recently adopted at the 36th ASEAN Summit emphasized the impact of technological change, aging population, climate change and epidemic diseases with the field of labour and employment. In particular, this Declaration sets out actions to prepare the ASEAN workforce for the changing world of work.
In his speech, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung also shared that the Government of Vietnam has launched a VND 62 trillion (about US $ 2.7 billion) support package to support about 20 million people of 7 beneficiary groups, to support workers and businesses severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Thanks to the Government's drastic measures along with the efforts of businesses and employees, it is forecasted that in 2020, Vietnam's economy will still maintain a positive growth rate," the Minister said.
The Minister Dao Ngoc Dung appreciated the commitment showed in the Ministerial Declaration of G20 Labour and Employment Ministers which will be the important orientation for every country to issue the suitalbe solution on labour - employment in order to overcome the difficulties.
