New Zealand helps improve Vietnam’s vocational training

On July, 20, in Hanoi, an Agreement on enhancing cooperation in the field of vocational education and training and skills development between Vietnam and New Zealand was signed. The Agreement was signed between Wendy Matthews, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, and Truong Anh Dung, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training under the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs.

An online conference took place between Vietnam’s Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and Switzerland’s Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) on June 23rd, 2020, discussing ways to enhance the sides’ post-COVID-19 labour cooperation. In Hanoi, attending the conference were Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha, Leadership representatives from the units under MOLISA and ILO Vietnam. In Switzerland, attending this online conference were Mr. Boris Zürcher - the Swiss State Secretary, Head of Labour Directorate under the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research and Leadership of relating agencies.

This is the goal set out at the seminar on the development of vocational education and training strategies in the 2021-2030 period held in Hanoi on June 16.

A startup contest for rural youngsters was launched in Hanoi on June 15 by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. The contest is open for youth union members aged from 18 to 35 who have ideas and projects to set up agricultural businesses in crop cultivation, animal husbandry, fishery, forestry, processing and preservation, agro-tourism, and community-based tourism, among others.

Results of the census, released by the General Statistics Office (GSO) recently, indicate that up to 65.57 percent of Vietnam’s population live in rural areas but the unemployment rate among people aged 15 and above there was only 1.64 percent (1.59 percent among men and 1.69 percent among women).
