 On April 26, the ASEAN Regional Interagency Conference on promoting the implementation of the Roadmap for the Implementation of the Hanoi Declaration was held virtually. The conference will take place in 3 days, from April 26-28, 2022. This is an activity co-hosted by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam and Ministry of Welfare and Development of Philippines with support from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the Asia Pacific region.

Social protection policies towards making the goal of social protection for all

 Vietnam’s social protection system needs further reform and strengthening towards realizing the goal of providing social protection for all in the country. This was one of the key take-aways of a consultation workshop co-organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Institute for Labour and Social Affairs (ILSSA) in Hanoi, on 20 April, 2022. Participants at the event, which was financially supported by the Government of Japan and the Government of Ireland, included representatives from the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), several international partners such as UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP, UN Women and the World Bank and the drafting committee for reviewing the implementation of the Party’s Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW on social policies which covers social security.

 On April 19th, in Hanoi, Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat and UNICEF held the Regional conference on promoting inter-agency collaboration on preventing child sexual abuse in ASEAN. The Conference was held virtually. Attending the Conference were Deputy Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha, representatives of ACWC on the women’s rights and children’s rights, and the focal points in response to social welfare, education, health care, youth, and human right of the member countries in ASEAN, representatives from UNICEF, UNFPA, UNESCO and the relating UN’s agencies, international organizations, representatives from relating ministries, sectors and associations…

 On March 31, Khai Tri School for Special Education in Ho Chi Minh City, one of the 15 facilities, held a programme for children with autism, during which the children had chances to meet each other and develop their social skills. The event also gave an opportunity to the community to get better understanding on autism to give more love to children with autism.

 On March 18, in Hanoi, the National Office for Poverty Reduction (Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) held a consultation workshop to develop guidelines implementing the content of livelihood diversification, development of poverty reduction models, vocational education and support for workers to work abroad under contracts under the National Objective Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the 2021 period - 2025. Mr. To Duc, Chief of the National Office for Poverty Reduction and Mr. Patrick Haverman, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Vietnam co-chaired the workshop.

 On March 21, in Hanoi, a regional workshop on evaluating the implementation of the ASEAN Guidelines on gender mainstreaming in labour and employment policies towards Decent Work was organized virtually by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs coordinate with the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund.

 On March 18, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam (MOLISA), Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha, representing Vietnam, joined the online dialogue between female leaders of the Southeast Asia region and Australia with the theme of Empowering women and girls impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in this region.
