Join hands to improve essential services to support women and girls experiencing gender-based violence

On June 21, in Vinh Phuc province, Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with UN Women held the Closing conference on essential services package for women and girls subject to violence (ESP) phase III in Vietnam (2021 – 2022). More than 80 delegates from United Nations agencies, line ministries, departments, representatives of several provinces and cities, national and international development organizations, CSOs gathered and shared experiences after the 5-year implementation of the United Nations Joint Program on Essential Services Package for Women and Girls Subject to Violence in Viet Nam.
UNFPA’s interventions towards the development of a care ecosystem for older persons in Vietnam

Month of Action for Children 2022 launched

A Month of Action for Children was launched at a ceremony in Hanoi on May 31 in the present of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Under the theme “Joining hands to care for, educate and protect children,” the month of action aims to engage socio-political organisations, social organisations, families and communities in the care, education and protection of children.
Deploying e-payments in implementing social assistance policies

On May 30, 2022, in Hanoi, the Department of Social assistance (Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs) coordinated with the World Bank and the Department of Economic and Development Cooperation, Australian Embassy to Vietnam (DFAT) organized a workshop on "Implementing e-payments in the implementation of social assistance policies".

Education is especially important in eradicating child labour, Vietnam's representative said at the 5th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour in Durban, South Africa, and called for strengthening cooperation for the improvement of high school education, career orientation, and vocational training.
RESPECT WOMEN: prevention of gender-based violence in accordance with international standards

During 3 days (May 11 - 13) Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with UN Women, WHO, UNFPA and the UN Gender Theme Group held a training course for prevention of gender-based violence. The training is being held for the first time in Vietnam to strengthen capacity on prevention of violence against women based on “Respect Women” framework and foster the development of an effective gender-based violence prevention strategies in the future.

The interdisciplinary delegation of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha worked with Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee on strengthening prevention and control of accidents, injuries and drowning among children on May 10.
Vietnam makes strides in poverty reduction: World Bank

Vietnam has made remarkable progress in poverty reduction in the 2010 – 2020 period, with the rate of poverty declining to only 5 percent from 16.8 percent, according to the World Bank (WB).
