Japan was the largest market for Vietnamese workers in the period, accounting for 71,156, an increase of 16.64 percent from the same period last year. Taiwan (China) followed with 49,980 workers, down 12.72 percent. The Republic of Korea came next with 6,940.

Vietnamese future work belong to the selection decision, Vietnam has shown the decision through the improvement of skills for labour force, widening the coverage of social security, and modernization of the labour relationship institution - these are the message announced in the Vietnamese Labour Forum 2019  with the theme "Future of Work - the Choice of Vietnam" held  on November 27th, 2019, in Hanoi. The event was jointly held by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), partners and the International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s Country Office for Vietnam. Deputy Minister Le Van Thanh attended and had an opening speech.

On November 25th, 2019, at the Ministry's Head office, Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the Japan International Training Cooperation Organisation (JITCO) on November 25 signed a record of discussions on a specified skilled workers programme and technical intern programme. Attending the event were MOLISA  Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung; President of JITCO - Mr. Hiroyuki Yagi, and representatives from relating departments, and agencies of the two sides.

The Labour Code (amended) that was passed by National Assembly deputies

The amended Labour Code that was passed by National Assembly deputies on November 20th, 2019. With 17 Chapters and 220 Articles, the Labour Code sets employment standards, obligations and responsibilities of employers and employees as well as their representative organisations, and State regulations. Especially, the retirement age for male and female workers will increase from 60 and 55 at present to 62 and 60 respectively in 2028 and 2035 under the revised Labour Code.

The first-ever national forum on improving Vietnamese laborers’ skills took place on November 16th, amid a string of unanswered questions, especially those related to vocational training. The event drew the participation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and nearly 1,500 business representatives.

According to a press conference chaired by Deputy Minister Le Quan on November 11th,  a National Forum "Improving skills for Vietnamese labour" with the topic: Enterprise accompany with renewing and improving vocational education quality will be held in Hanoi from November 15-16.  The events is co-organized by Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
