Promoting the implementation for the rights of women and children in Vietnam

Domestic violence is a disturbing problem of society, contrary to the human rights, the cultural traditions of many ethnic and happen on all over the world. Women are first victims. Domestic violence also directly or indirectly affect children, causing the consequences of physique and spirit of women and children, which affects the labour productivity of family members and the economic growth of each country. To facilitate the implementation of the rights of women and children in Vietnam, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, the Organization of Women United Nations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees organized “Consultation Conference of the ASEAN Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Right of Women and Children - (ACWC)” at Hai Phong City in the days 20 – 21 December 2011. Deputy Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hoa attended the conference.

Need more unified solutions to support breast feeding in the first 6 months

On the Implementation of the Law on children protection, care and education to ensure the survival and development of children, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Vietnam held a Workshop on the discussion of solutions to support mothers in breastfeeding children completely in the first 6 months after giving birth. Attending the Workshop were Mr. Bui Sy Loi, Deputy Head of the Committee on Social Affairs of the National Assembly, Ms. Ngo Thi Minh, Deputy Head of the Committee on Education, Culture, Youth, and Teenager of the National Assembly, Mr. Doan Mau Diep, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Ms Lotta Sylwander, the Chief Representative of the UNICEF in Vietnam.

On the morning of December 19, 2011, at the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Minister Pham Thi Hai Chuyen welcomed Mr. Helmut Kutin - President of International SOS Children's Village during the visit and work in Vietnam. At the meeting, the two sides together to discuss issues related to the upbringing and education of orphans, helpless, and ddiscussed about the difficulties and problems in the conduct of procedures and documents when implementing projects to support children in Vietnam.

Following the activities of direct gift-giving for the children in institutions of social protection, on December 10, 2011, the Program Organization Board "The noble heart" jointly with the Vietnam Bom and Mine Clearance Action Center, the Fund for Veterans in Vietnam and the benefactors held gift-giving ceremony to the Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for Handicapped Children (under MOLISA) in Ba Vi, Hanoi amount 50 million dong.
