After over 9 months implementing the Resolution 30a of the Government for quick and sustainable poverty reduction under the drastic guidance of the Government, the active participation of ministries, industries, locals and enterprises assigned to support poor districts, the initial results are obtained as follows:

On the morning of December 25th, 2009, the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Mr. Pham Minh Huan paid a visit and worked with the company Changshin Dong Nai. Participants were the leaders of the Department of Labour - Salary, Center for Industrial Relations Development, and the representative of Nike Corporation in Vietnam.

Seminar consultation the outline of the National Program on Gender Equality for the period 2011 - 2015

The seminar took place on December 23, 2009 in Hanoi, it was jointly held by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in Vietnam. Participants were Mr. Luong Phan Cu - Vice Chairman of National Assembly Committee for Social Issues, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa - Deputy Minister of MOLISA; Ms. Suzette Michel - Chief Representative of UNIFEM Vietnam, representatives of Ministries, unions, International Organizations, research institutes, universities have research on gender, and representatives of Women's Unions from some provinces and cities.

Workshop on social protection system of Vietnam

On November 8, 2009 The Committee on Social Affairs of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam cooperated with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to hold a workshop on the social protection system of Vietnam. This workshop was aimed at collecting ideas from parliamentary delegates, researchers and international specialists to build a social protection strategy of Vietnam for 2011 – 2020 period. Madam Truong Thi Mai - Chairwoman of the Committee on Social Affairs; Mr Bui Sy Loi, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Social Affairs; Mr Nguyen Trong Dam – Deputy Minister of Labour – Invalid and Social Affairs hosted the workshop.

Additional 19 trainees of Vinashin completed the training program in Japan

In the morning of November 13th , 2009, in the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin), Center for Overseas Labour in coordination with the Association for International Manpower Development of Medium and Small enterprises of Japan (IMM Japan) and Vinashin Center for Labour Cooperation with foreign organizations held graduation ceremony and granted certificates of the 2nd course for 19 returned trainees of Vinashin who have completed the training program from Japan
